MDC Wallcoverings, a division of EPKO Industries, Inc., located in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, is one of the world's largest wallcoverings and coatings distributors. MDC's forty-plus year history is a story of acquisitions coupled with the ability to provide customers with exceptional value, product selection and service.

MDC was established in 1966, as a regional B.F. Goodrich commercial wallcoverings distributor. During the following years it expanded its presence from a few Midwestern states to the Southeast and California markets. In 1993, MDC was awarded distribution rights to the Bolta commercial wallcoverings line in eight Western states. This was followed two years later by the announcement that MDC would become the Essex distributor in nine Midwestern states. In 1996, MDC acquired Republic Midwest, the Genon distributor in Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This was followed by the acquisition of General Wallcoverings in 1998, giving MDC additional distribution for Bolta and Genon in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. In 2000, MDC was asked to relinquish its distribution rights to the Genon and Essex brands in return for the appointment as the national distributor for Bolta; during this period it also became the national distributor for MemErase Dry Erase Wallcoverings.

In 2005 MDC again became the Genon distributor and the Muraspec product line distributor throughout the U.S. except for the upper Midwest, which then came under the MDC umbrella in June, 2006.

During this period of growth and acquisition, MDC was also distributing Len-Tex products in the Midwest. Through greater expansion into new markets, MDC today is the national distributor for the Len-Tex brand.

In 2001, MDC also acquired Winfield Design, a high-end residential manufacturing distributor. MDC has continued to build its Winfield presence through twenty showrooms and thirty-five independent sales representatives.

Since 1992, through market share expansion and acquisitions, MDC has become the leader in wallcoverings distribution with a wide array of products, such as vinyls, woods, grasses, foils, textiles and paint/coatings. From the original small regional distributor, MDC has grown to ninety-plus highly-trained and motivated outside sales representatives in five regional offices. They are supported by more than seventy-five internal personnel located in the Elk Grove Village, Illinois Corporate Offices.
